Metroid Prime Hunters Will Be Wi-Fi Ready!!!

Since the Nintendo DS first launched with demo versions of Metroid Prime Hunters, fans have been clamoring for the completed version of the game. Their patience has paid off. Metroid Prime Hunters will launch in the first quarter of 2006, complete with access to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's upcoming online gaming service. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will debut before the end of the year with a Mario Kart and an Animal Crossing game, and will let players connect wirelessly with one another as easily as if they were sitting in the same room.

For the first time, fans can get their hands on a trial version of the new single-player mission of Metroid Prime Hunters this weekend at the Penny Arcade Expo in Bellevue, Wash. Attendees also can see three previously unreleased bounty hunter characters in the game. These include Sylux, a ruthless sharpshooter who harbors an intense hatred for Metroid heroine Samus Aran; Trace, a young outcast who seeks power and a planet to invade; and Weavel, a cyborg Space Pirate assassin.

For more information and videos of the bounty hunters in action, visit www.metroidhunters.com.

New Zoid Games!!!

The Zoid games command their biggest followings on Nintendo systems, and publisher Tomy seems to recognize this. With multiple Game Boy Advance and GameCube Zoid games already out, the company has gotten around to announcing its two latest titles, one for the GameCube and one for the DS.

Zoid Metal Crush, for the GameCube, is an all-out action/fighter. The game is based off the recent PlayStation 2 Zoid Struggle, to which Tomy is adding new zoids and battle stages. A Japanese release is set for 10/27.
The DS Zoid game was already announced some time last year, but without details or a final name. Zoid Saga DS ~ legend of arcadia ~ is an RPG in which players work with zoids to advance through the storyline. The game includes zoids from the cartoon and some new creations, all of which can be customized by the player. A release is planned for Winter.

With rare exception, the Zoid games are a Japan-only thing, so those wanting these latest titles will probably need to import. IGN

US is getting Tamagotchi DS!!!

Bandai has revealed that it will bring Tamagotchi: Shop Simulation to the DS in the US. The game, a dual screen design based around the company's virtual pet toy from more than a half decade ago, is scheduled to hit this territory sometime in early 2006.

In Tamagotchi: Shop Simulation, players open specialty shops, and develop their businesses by servicing customers through mini games that utilize the Nintendo DS's touch-screen functionality. Players can select from a variety of different stores, including a bakery, beauty salon, dentist's office, flower shop, and more. Once the shop is open, players will help their customers by completing mini games with the Nintendo DS stylus. Apply makeup, treat cavities, decorate cakes and complete many other shop-specific tasks to earn money and progress towards "royal" shop status. Shop interiors can be customized, and cute Tamagotchi characters will make appearances throughout the adventure. IGN

Update for Resident Evil!!!

As reported earlier today, Capcom has announced a DS version of Resident Evil. Appearing in the latest issue of Famitsu is Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, a remake of the first Resident Evil game with the DS's unique feature set in mind.

Capcom has made a number of changes to the original game. Character models and motion have been redone. New traps and battles await as you work your way through the now classic storyline involving Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and that well-known mansion that introduced the world to Resident Evil back in 1996.
One particularly scary new bit involves smarter zombies who'll actually work their way around doors as they chase after you. You'll find that there's no solace in a room that you think you've completely freed from zombie infestation.

The DS's stylus is being put to use in the remake. You'll use the stylus to work your way through puzzles. The only example we have is a simple one -- inputting numbers into a key pad in order to unlock a door. The stylus is also used when facing off against zombies with your knife. You slash away at your foes by, as you might expect, scratching the screen with the stylus.

Capcom also has plans for wireless support, although details have yet to be revealed. Deadly Silence is still pretty early into development, so we're not expecting to see it for a while. However, seeing as how the game is part of Capcom's 10th anniversary celebration for the Resident Evil series, we expect a release some time next year. IGN

Sequel to Tendo Dokuta!!!

The DS gave birth to a new genre early on with the Japanese release of Kenshuui Tendou Dokuta late last year. Spike announced today a sequel to this original stylus doctor simulation, Kenshuui Tendou Dokuta 2: Inochi no Tenbin ("Balance of Life").

Little is known about the sequel at this point. The game takes place a year following the events of the original and features in the lead character role Tendou Dokutai. Spike is promising much more in the way of content this time around. IGN

Resident Evil for DS is coming!!!

Capcom will be bringing Resident Evil to the Nintendo DS according to reports out of Japan. The game has been announced as "Biohazard: Deadly Silence," with Biohazard being the Japanese name for Resident Evil. No other details are known at this time.

This information has likely leaked from the latest issue of Famitsu, so expect further details shortly.

New limited 7up DS!!!

Nintendo's iQue division in China and the 7up Company have partnered up for a special DS promotion in that territory. The promotion, which began on August 15th and runs for 15 weeks, gives soda drinkers the opportunity to win a specially branded Nintendo DS system (called the iQue DS in China) by collecting and sending in 7up bottle caps.

There will be only one winner a week during this promotion, making the 7up DS limited to 15 units and an extremely rare model for collectors. The 7up logo on the limited edition system's cover uses the latest laser printing technique that resists surface scratches. IGN

Mario & Luigi Sequel Gets a Title!!!

Nintendo has revealed the official title to the upcoming Nintendo DS sequel to 2003's Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The dual-screen follow-up will be called Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

Mario & Luigi for the Nintendo DS picks up after the original game where the plumbers actually leap back in time and meet up with baby versions of themselves. Players use both regular and baby Marios and Luigis to work together in this dual-screen RPG adventure. IGN

Metroid Prime Hunters Delayed Again!!!

In a release issued today, Nintendo of America has revealed that Metroid Prime: Hunters, one of the first announced titles for the Nintendo DS handheld, has been delayed until next year. Originally scheduled for an October 2005 release, Metroid Prime: Hunters has been pushed back to a non-specific First Quarter 2006 date.

Metroid Prime Hunters is a spin-off of the GameCube's Metroid Prime series, featuring much more action-oriented arena gameplay in the Metroid universe. The game has already been revealed as a four player local wireless compatible game.

Though no official details were revealed on the delay, it's being speculated that Nintendo has pushed the product back a few months in order to support multiplayer deathmatch over Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection internet service.

GameBoy Micro Date Revealed!!!

Fall's hippest new tech-cessory won't be found on a fashion runway, but it will turn every head just the same. Game Boy micro starts shipping to stores nationally Sept. 19 at an MSRP of $99.99, and promises to be one of the most sought-after gotta-haves heading into fall and the holiday season. The edgy hardware will come in both silver and black versions, each with three removable, fun faceplates so users can personalize their Micro depending on their mood.

"Game Boy goes anywhere, and now it fits anywhere," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The incredibly small size of Game Boy micro belies the powerful technology shrunk into a hip new casing with an intensely bright screen; and at under $100, it's a must-have."

Game Boy micro measures just 4 inches wide, 2 inches long and 0.7 inches thin. It weighs 2.8 ounces, about the weight of 80 paper clips. Yet it boasts the same power as previous Game Boy Advance models, complete with the ability to play all Game Boy Advance games, a library of more than 700 titles. Game Boy micro features a 2-inch, crystal-clear screen, and Start/Select buttons that glow with the cool, neon-like blue found on many cell phones.

The black Game Boy micro will include one faceplate with a "Flame" design of fiery yellow double helixes on an orange background. It also will come with a green "Camouflage" faceplate and a chic silver faceplate. The silver Game Boy micro will include an "Ammonite" faceplate with a dark blue swirling pattern. It also will come with a "Ladybug" faceplate that features a ladybug on a large pink gerbera daisy, and a slick black faceplate. Images are available at www.gameboy.com.

The faceplates serve a secondary function beyond simple style. They form a durable, protective façade over the luminous screen of the Game Boy micro. Nintendo

DS is Getting a Pirce Drop!!!

Nintendo is announcing new pricing for the Nintendo DS of $129.99 MSRP, effective Aug. 21, in advance of the arrival of a critically acclaimed title for the dual-screened, hand-held video game system. The $20 price drop comes just ahead of the Aug. 22 U.S. launch of Nintendogs, which has become a cultural phenomenon and a sales leader in Japan because of its innovative appeal.

"The new price and the arrival of a mega hit like Nintendogs give Nintendo DS a one-two punch that will thrill consumers," says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Consumers know Nintendo offers the best in the hand-held video game industry, and this news should make them very happy."

Nintendo DS has outsold all other hand-held and console video game systems in Japan for four months straight. Nintendogs recently went on sale in Japan, sparking a nationwide craze, as owners began raising, training and falling in love with their lifelike puppies; more than 700,000 copies of Nintendogs have sold since its debut. Weekly

Famitsu, Japan's leading video game magazine, gives Nintendogs an extraordinary overall perfect score of 40.

Nintendogs is a puppy simulator made exclusively for Nintendo DS that lets owners name, train and play with a realistic puppy. The pups respond to their owners' voices with the built-in microphone, and react to praise and positive reinforcement via the Nintendo DS' touch screen. The sophisticated artificial intelligence simulates a real dog in every way. Nintendogs players pick from 18 breeds, then owners feed their pups, buy them new toys and take them for walks as they bond.

In addition to Nintendogs, Nintendo DS has a strong lineup of games arriving before the end of the year. These include Advance Wars: Dual Strike on Aug. 22, Trace Memory on Sept. 26, Metroid Prime Pinball on Oct. 24 and Mario & Luigi 2 in Q4. The new price for Nintendo DS also gives consumers another excuse to buy a Nintendo DS to be ready for the upcoming Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the wireless gaming service to launch later this year with a Mario Kart racing game and an Animal Crossing community-building game. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Delayed to Next Year!!!

Nintendo announced this morning that its anticipated new adventure game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has been delayed. The title, formerly scheduled to debut this November around the world, has since been postponed to 2006 so that the developer can continue to make the game better.

"After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess," said Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan. "Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller."
Twilight Princess, developed by Nintendo and directed by Majora's Mask overseer Eiji Aonuma, was previously set to be the company's big holiday game. In fact, analysts expected the game to be Nintendo's single greatest deterrent to consumers potentially interested in Microsoft's next-generation console, Xbox 360, which is set for a November launch. The delay leaves Nintendo without a major holiday release on GameCube.

In the epic adventure, a 17-year-old Link travels across a gritty, realistic world and is able to move into an alternate dark land called the Twilight Realm, where he transforms into a wolf. Twilight Princess won a number of considerations by critics when it was presented in playable form at the Electronics Entertainment Expo. However, even then, members of the development team hinted in interviews that they would have to work overtime in order to meet a holiday release.

Nintendo has released seven new screenshots of the game in motion. Readers are directed to our images section for new shots of Link exploring a populated town and manipulating the snow as the wolf. IGN

New Pokemon Titles Coming!!!

Remember all that buzz about a possible new Pokemon game being prepared to coincide with the Japanese debut of next year's Pokemon flick? It turns out that Nintendo wasn't just talking about one new Pokemon title, but three!

First up is Pokemon Ranger: The Road to Diamond and Pearl for the DS. This newest title is an action RPG set in the world of the upcoming Pokemon Ranger movie. You play as a Pokemon Ranger. Different from a Pokemon Trainer, a Ranger travels the lands, using Pokemon in a fight to defend nature from baddies. Pokemon Ranger is set for Japanese release in 2006. Its release will precede that of Diamond and Pearl with the games all linking up together for some top secret bonuses.
Nintendo is also working on a new puzzle game for the DS featuring more than 380 of your favorite Pokemon. Titled Pokemon Torouze, the DS's dual screens are used to display a game board showing Pokemon face pieces. Using the touch pen, your goal is to line up four like pieces vertically or horizontally. The pieces then disappear. In addition to pure puzzle-based gameplay, Torouze will also include an adventure mode in which you lead main character Lucy Lightfoot on a big adventure to save her Pokemon friends from an evil organization.

The fun doesn't end there, though. Both DS and Game Boy Advance owners can look forward to a new type of Pokemon game with Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon, a game based off he long-running, Japan-only Mysterious Dungeon series of games. The DS will be getting Blue Rescue Force with the GBA getting Red Rescue Force. Aside from the name, and an expected simultaneous Winter release date for both versions, we know nothing about this surprise pair.

Pokemon Torouze will kick off this new batch of Pokemon fun with a Japanese release set for 10/20. There's no word yet from Nintendo of America on the release plans for any of these new titles. IGN

First look at Scurge Hive!!!

Updated Polarium was Announced by Nintendo!!!

Nintendo Japan has announced an update to Polarium, a DS puzzle game from earlier this year. The original carried the name Chokkan Hito Fude in Japan. The sequel has been named Tsuukin Hito Fude. The Japanese title suggests that Nintendo wants people to take the game with them on their commute to work or school.

Tsuukin Hito Fude retains the same basic gameplay idea of its predecessor. The big addition comes in the form of new puzzles, making for 365 in all, and a time attack mode. The game also has new edit options, allowing you to add color to your pieces.
With a budget price of 2800 yen. Tsuukin Hito Fude may be worth a buy, even though it's not a full sequel. A Japanese release is set for 10/13. Nintendo has yet to announce a release outside of Japan. IGN

New Details on Feel the Magic: XX/XX!!!

Early DS adopters were mighty pleased with the news last week of a sequel to Feel the Magic XX/XY, Sega's stylish DS launch title that made clever use of the system's stylus, dual screens and microphone setup. The sequel, titled Where do Babies Come From (Akachan ha Dokokara Kuruno? in Japanese) has just been fully unveiled on the pages of Famitsu, and we've got the details for you.

Where do Babies Come From retains the visual style of Feel the Magic, with silhouette main characters and storytelling that splits the screen into four comic-style frames. The characters are meant to be different, though, from those of the original title. The main character for this game is a twenty-year-old who has eyes for a hot, 21-year-old girl. Whereas Feel the Magic was about a similar main character attempting to get a girl to fall in love with him, Where do Babies Come From? starts off once the seeds of love have been planted.
In addition to the main character and his girl, Where do Babies Come From includes a second girl, an 18-year-old friend from the main character's youth. She herself has the hots for the main character, making for one messy love triangle. This girl will actually attack the main character, with a surprising level of extremity.

You can look forward to a number of situations through which the main character's love will develop. We've seen one situation where the girl (the one the main character likes) is injured, and it's your job to comfort her wounds. Another scene involves racing down a river as alligators close in.

Where do Babies Come From is said to feature two times the number of scenarios and three times the love as Feel the Magic. The Japanese will (finally!) learn where babies come from on October 20th. American's already know the origin of babies, so we expect the game to cross the Pacific bearing a new name. IGN

Japan Gets More DS Downloads!!!

Starting today in Japan (August 4th to be precise), Nintendo will enable demo downloads in 328 stores across that country, giving players the opportunity to wirelessly pull two new demos into their Nintendo DS system.

Nintendo has made available the training mode within the upcoming Jump Superstars available for test drive during this download session. As well, players can snag a small demonstration of Nintendogs featuring a Jack Russell terrier to play with.

As always, these downloads only last as long as player's Nintendo DS systems remain powered on. The Nintendo DS system can enter into sleep mode to retain the software into memory, but once that power button is pressed, the downloaded software will vanish. IGN

New Info on Metroid Prime 3!!!

As you'd expect, Retro Studios won't delve into specifics about what exactly makes Revolution different from other next-generation consoles, but Metroid Prime 3 itself will reportedly take "advantage of a number of new features in the Revolution, including the controller." The rest of the interview, however, forgoes any more Revolution tidbits.

The interview hints that Metroid Prime 3 will end a trilogy of sorts, as the the third game's storyline will center on closure "told against the backdrop of an epic struggle," suggesting Samus will not be the only one battling the dangerous Metroid threat this time around. Also, the mysterious substance known as Phazon will again play a heavy role.

Though the Revolution will supposedly offer a different kind of gaming experience through its interface, gamers shouldn't expect a radical shift in gameplay dynamics. Rather, Metroid Prime 3 will continue the first-person action adventure the series has become known for, and there are no plans to add a third-person viewpoint outside of the morph ball. What about the disappointing multiplayer from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes? No word at this point.

Rumors continue to suggest the hardware behind Nintendo's new machine won't match up to the raw power of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but Retro remains casual about the game's visual potential. "Our engineers are a very talented and dedicated bunch, and they're constantly looking for ways to make our games run smoother with more detail."

While the main Metroid theme isn't as popular as Zelda or Mario's, fans have always held the series tunes close to their heart, and Retro doesn't aim to disappoint this time around. "Music production hasn't yet begun, but we've already had some very exciting discussions with Kenji Yamamoto, who will return as the composer for Prime 3. We hope to take the music into some new directions for this title, and there's no doubt Mr. Yamamoto is going to relish the challenge."

In spite of all that's been said, Retro's cleverly avoided saying very much about what to expect from Metroid Prime 3, but considering how secretive Nintendo's been since May, we'll take any tidbits we can get. 1up

Capcom today revealed that the Nintendo DS action adventure Viewtiful Joe DS has received an official namechange. The game will now be called Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble.

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble, scheduled for a holiday 2005 release, is a unique dual-screen take on the Viewtiful Joe brawler design introduced on the GameCube two years ago. The DS edition features touch-screen functionality that enables gamers to split the action in half, as well as swap the two screen display all with a flick of the finger. IGN
